Eligibility & Making Changes

Eligibility

Employees hired on or after January 1, will be eligible for benefits beginning on their date of hire. The 401(k) eligibility will begin on the first of the month following the date of hire.

Eligible dependents include:

  • Your legal spouse or domestic partner
  • Your natural, adopted, or step-children up to age 26
  • Children of any age, if incapable of self-support due to mental or physical disability

Making Changes

Your initial benefit choice remain for the plan year, so review your options carefully. You can enrolled in or change benefits:

  1. Within 30 days of eligibility 
  2. During Open Enrollment 
  3. Within 30 days of a qualified family status change.

Qualifying Change in Family Status

We understand life happens outside of Open Enrollment. If you experience a family status change, you can make changes to your benefits within 30 days of the event. 

Examples of Qualifying Change in Family Status:

    • Marriage, divorce, or legal separation
    • Birth or adoption of a child
    • Death of a dependent
    • Loss or gain of other health coverage for you and/or dependents
    • Change in your work status that affects your benefits
    • Change in eligibility for Medicaid or Medicare for you or a dependent
    • Receipt of a Qualified Medical Child Support Order

Keep in mind that you may be required to provide supporting documentation, such as a birth certificate or marriage certificate, to prove your dependent’s eligibility. Contact our Employee Benefits Center within 30 days of the change (or within 60 days for birth of a child, Medicaid, or CHIP events).
